Women: Have any of you had a medication (at home) abortion? What were the side effects like???

This is obviously over for you.and I hope it went ok. for me, it was extremely painful. I needed to call the doctor at 3am to get a new prescription. Thankfully, the clinic i went to was amazing & super helpful.

Remember that terminating a pregnancy is not something anyone takes lightly. Many people act as if it is an 'easy' decision. I can assure you, for most women it is a well thought out one that ultimately they do not regret.

Do not let people on bully you. When a pregnancy occurs there r three options, Parenthood, Abortion & Adoption. All r just as valid as the next, despite what hateful people may say.

You made the decision that was right for you. Feel proud that u were strong enough to do that. Be proud that u were able to do right by ur pregnancy.

You made ur choice. It was the right one for you. Take care of yourself, & have an amazing life. YOU HAVE EARNED IT.

Good luck.

* And people saying ''if u r old enough to have sex, u should deal with the consequences'' that is just ignorant. Going to the principles office or a speeding ticket is a consequence, no one should have a child out of guilt or CONSEQUENCE. That is just ignorant.*

Again I took the misoprostol to make my uterus contract after a miscarriage.
Honestly.it was one of the worst pains I have experienced in my life. It took an hour to kick in & the cramps were so severe, I was sweating, shitting & vomiting with really really heavy bleeding. They told me to push when the contracting got heavy so I did this over the toilet & a massive gush of blood dropped. After this the pain eased but I still kept getting a pain coming on at intervals. Fours hours later I dropped the yolk which was like the size of a lemon. Once this has passed the pain pretty much ceased but for some period like cramps. The first one to two hours before the gush of blood was horrific. The vomit I let out was an orange, medicinal looking mixture.definately not something I had eaten & it was thick & gooey..so look out for this.

I really dont want to scare u because i'm sure ur scared enough but I really really wish they had told me at the hospital that it would hurt that much as I didnt know what was normal & what wasnt.

Day after I felt totally fine.

I have been told of people I know having same tablet for an abortion who were fine so maybe its us that miscarried (another answered in same way as me) who have the terrible pain. I was 8 weeks.

I took RU486 five years ago. I experienced cramping and bleeding, which is the expulsion of embryonic tissue. Otherwise no problems. No sterility either, I have a healthy happy 5 month old baby. Good luck, and the vast majority of women do not regret their abortion as long as it is their choice and not a result of coercion. No regrets here. Good luck sweetie!

Some people (not you) are so RUDE! Stop trying to control other peoples bodies, your beliefs are not everyones so shut up and do not answer the question unless its going to be helpful or nice!

That being said, sorry I can not help, I never had one but I would assume there would be cramping and bleeding. Try to get some rest and a good heating pad to ease the pain.

If you're stupid enough to have unprotected sex, get pregnant, and then NOT go to a doctor for a real abortion or for advice on a medication that could kill you if you overdose or othewise fuck up your reproductive system, you certainly do not even deserve to have random people on the internet answer your idiotic question.

well i had a natural miscarriage & they prescribe the same medication, misoprostal (or a generic) to clean out the uterus. its the same as the 2nd pill. it caused horrible cramps like contractions (had a kid before too) & bad lower back pain like no other then there was the heavy heavy bleeding. I actually thought that i was dying! i went back to the Dr. & they said all that was normal! but i guess it depends on how far along u are. i was 13 weeks & i already started to bleed so it was coming out either way, they just wanted to make it faster for me!

2 of my cousins have taken this pill & neither of them had any problems or side effects, not even severe cramping (as stated). They said it was very easy & painless, but then again it is different for everyone.
